Main Activities
Lectures, Regular Meetings, and Seminars
New Year Lecture
The New Year Lecture of the Travel Management Club is an annual event that marks the beginning of the year for the travel and tourism industry. Each year, lecturers who are active at the forefront of various fields are invited to deliver thought-provoking talks based on management, organizational operations, and the trends of the times. The event gathers many industry professionals and also serves as a lively occasion for New Year greetings and exchange. At the 47th event in 2025, Yoshinobu Takahashi, former manager of the Yomiuri Giants, was invited as the lecturer. With the venue filled to capacity, he delivered a lecture on the theme of organizational management.
Monthly Meetings
The Travel Management Club deepens continuous learning and interaction among its members through monthly meetings. Lecturers from various fields are invited to speak on a wide range of topics, including economics, international affairs, the latest trends surrounding the travel and tourism industry, as well as culture, the environment, health, and more. These sessions include lectures and discussions. In addition to sharing up-to-date information, the meetings are highly regarded as valuable opportunities for members to exchange opinions and build networks. They serve as a practical learning forum that broadens the perspectives of industry leaders and supports their day-to-day management.
Summer Seminar
The Summer Seminar is held at a resort, providing a relaxed atmosphere in which participants can deepen their learning while also engaging in fellowship and interaction through an overnight stay. In recent years, the program has included more than just lectures. In 2023, participants experienced boccia prior to the lecture, and in 2024, under the theme “Let’s Support Noto’s Recovery,” the group visited Noto and Wakura Onsen, which were affected by the earthquake, to hear a report on the current state of reconstruction.
Study Tours
Domestic Study Tours
The domestic study tours of the Travel Management Club involve visiting tourism sites across Japan to experience firsthand the characteristics, tourism resources, and challenges of each region. To date, each tour has been organized around engaging themes such as the restoration of Kyoto’s traditional townhouses and the Osaka–Kansai Expo, future developments and ground handling operations at Narita Airport, an on-site inspection of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and an exploration of tourism resources in the Chichibu area. With overnight itineraries, these tours also provide ample opportunities for fellowship and information exchange among members. Seeing the sites in person, engaging in discussions with peers, and reflecting on the future of the industry—these aspects have earned the tours a strong reputation as a practical forum for learning and interaction.
Overseas Study Tours
The overseas study tours involve visiting leading destinations around the world to deepen both learning and interaction from an international perspective. Participants study advanced initiatives in various countries—such as tourism policies, community development, sustainability, and the utilization of tourism resources—directly on site, and also engage in discussions with local stakeholders. The tours have taken members to destinations across the globe, including Mongolia, Taiwan, Finland, Austria, Tahiti, Andalusia, and Croatia. In 2025, the group visited New Zealand to observe tourism-related policies and efforts in natural environment conservation. These tours provide valuable opportunities to experience international practices firsthand, rediscover the potential of Japan’s tourism industry, and strengthen the international bonds among members.
Seasonal Events & Recreation
Friendship Golf Competition
The friendship golf competition is an annual social event. Rather than focusing on the results of the game, participants interact in a relaxed atmosphere, engaging with one another across different generations and positions. It serves as a place for personal connection that differs from the usual monthly meetings and seminars. As a warm and open communication setting characteristic of the Club, it is an event many members look forward to.
Beer Party
The beer party held every summer is an open and casual social event. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants exchange information and deepen personal connections, while naturally fostering interaction that transcends industry boundaries. This relaxed time, distinct from regular meetings and study sessions, is greatly enjoyed by the members.
Year-End Social Gathering
The year-end social gathering is a traditional event that brings the year to a close. It provides an opportunity to look back on the year’s activities, engage in friendly conversations, and express appreciation for the support received throughout the year. It is a warm occasion unique to the Club, where members deepen bonds across generations and positions and gain renewed energy for the coming year.
